 The quinoa used for its production is certified organically grown. Corn is added to it, giving rise to a rich, silky and complex vodka that has several levels of tasting, to be drunk at room temperature to make the most of its aromatic and gustatory palette.

Bottled to mark the 10th anniversary of independent bottler The Nectar, Rum FAIR 9 Year Old Single Cask is the result of a joint venture between Fairtrade authorities and Ethical Wine & Spirits. It was made using traditional fermentation and distillation methods before being aged for 9 years in a single cask. The sugar cane used in its composition was grown according to organic and sustainable farming methods by small producers in Belize, grouped together in cooperatives.

Born in 1894 into a family of sake producers, Masataka Taketsuru is considered the father of Japanese whisky. After training as a chemist, he was hired by the Settsu Shuzo company, which sent him to Scotland in 1918 to do his apprenticeship. He developed a passion for whisky and decided to devote his life to it. In 1934, he built Yoichi, his first distillery, on the island of Hokkaido. His growing success allowed him to establish a second one in 1969 near Sendai, Miyagikyo. It is from the single malts of these two distilleries that the Nikka Whisky group produces its entire range of Japanese whiskies.

Both smooth and rich, the first nose is marked by notes of cashew, licorice, mint and raspberry. On aeration, it evolves with distinction on freshly cut grass, almond and citrus (lemon). Then, coriander, coconut milk and lychees come to the fore. Rather lively, the attack in mouth returns on dried fruits (date, almond) while some very soft spices give it a lot of dynamism (cinnamon, cardamom).
